When it comes to practical SUVs that are fun to drive, Mazda is the master. The star of the compact class is the Mazda CX-5, but there are other similar models in the lineup. Colonial Mazda profiles three vehicles that are comparable to Mazda CX-5 models.

MAZDA CX-30

The 2026 Mazda CX-30 is in the subcompact SUV class, which makes it a little smaller than the Mazda CX-5. It’s no less sporty, however, and it offers a spirited drive. Under the hood is a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine that produces 186 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque.

There is plenty of room inside for five people, and cargo space is ample: 20.2 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 45.2 cubic feet when they are folded. Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, an eight-speaker stereo, and remote keyless entry are all standard.

MAZDA CX-50

Like the Mazda CX-5, the 2026 Mazda CX-50 is a compact SUV. It’s powered by a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine that offers 187 horsepower and 185 lb-ft of torque. Both rows are roomy and five people can fit nicely.

As for cargo space, it provides 31.4 cubic feet behind the back row and 56.3 cubic feet when it’s down. HD radio, an eight-speaker stereo, and wireless smartphone connectivity are just some of its notable features.

MAZDA CX-70

The biggest of the bunch, the 2026 Mazda CX-70 is in the midsize SUV class. It comes with a potent 3.3-liter turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine that generates 280 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque.

Referred to as a three-row SUV without a third row, it has a huge cabin with five seats, along with lots of room for your stuff: 39.6 cubic feet behind the rear row and 75.3 cubic feet when it’s folded. Along with wireless smartphone connectivity, it has a big 12.3-inch infotainment digital display and wireless device charging.
